hi! I'M VAL !
photographer • artist • educator
With a lifelong passion for the arts and a deep-rooted commitment to creative education, I bring years of experience in both professional artistry and arts instruction. As a portrait photographer at Urban Couture Photography, located in Mainframe Studios, I capture the essence of individuals through visual storytelling.
My background in the arts runs deep — I hold a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, and I have a strong foundation in arts education having been enrolled in the Art Ed program at Iowa State University. I designed fresh floral decor for weddings and events for 20+ years. I have spent my life immersed in creative expression. I have developed and led numerous programs designed to inspire young artists. I created and directed the Summer Arts Program for the City of Windsor Heights for seven years, taught after-school art at the Des Moines Social Club, and ran the Young Artist Studio during the summer. Most recently, I have been a teaching artist for Mainframe tours & workshops, as well as ASAP (After School Arts Program) in the DMPS schools.
I am happy to answer any and all questions you may have! Call me at 515.277.8191 or email urbancouturephotography@gmail.com
hi! I'M LINDA !
GRAPHIC DESIGNER • artist • educator
Linda “Lunita” is a Des Moines graphic designer and paper artist with nearly 20 years of experience, and the creator behind Lunita Planners. Known for her interactive papercrafts, handcrafted stationery, mini piñatas, and signature hand-stitched surprise pockets, she brings a playful, hands-on approach to every workshop, inspiring makers of all ages to craft, explore, and create!
As mothers of four children each, who have gone through the DMPS school system, we understand the importance of fostering creativity in young minds and providing them with a space to explore, express, and develop confidence in their artistic abilities. Art isn’t just something we do—it’s who we are. Our goal is to cultivate an inspiring, hands-on learning environment where artists, of any age can experiment, take creative risks, and develop their unique artistic voices. And have fun doing it! We hope you'll join us!
